Setting up a plan

Offering a retirement plan benefit can help your business in more ways than one. Four to six weeks from the first conversation to a plan that works.

The timeline

Four to six weeks, start to funded.

Most of that window is documents and payroll coordination rather than decisions. The decisions happen in the first conversation, which is why we spend real time on it.

Worth knowing

Employers with 50 or fewer employees may be eligible for a tax credit covering up to 100% of qualifying plan startup costs for the first three years. Ask us how it applies to you.

  1. 01

    Talk through the goal

What the plan is for. Retention, owner tax strategy, or both. This is the conversation that decides the design, and it is worth an hour.

  2. 02

    Partner with an advisor

You keep your advisor, or we introduce you to one. They own the investment lineup and the participant relationship.

  3. 03

    Select a recordkeeper

The platform that holds the money and runs the participant website. We work with the majors and will tell you honestly which fits.

  4. 04

    Sign the documents

Plan document, service agreements and recordkeeper paperwork. We draft, you review, your advisor countersigns where needed.

  5. 05

    Onboarding call

We walk the implementation schedule with whoever runs payroll, so the first deferral lands correctly.

  6. 06

    Ongoing administration

Compliance testing, plan monitoring, annual design review, trust accounting and Form 5500 with all required schedules.

A dedicated team focused on you and your employees.
